Regional Stakeholder Adviser Uranquinty

The Community Advisor (Uranquinty) will work with stakeholders on short, medium and long term ways to engage local opinion leaders and the broader community in and around Uranquinty and Wagga Wagga.  The Advisor’s role in being close to people both collectively and individually will form a key listening post for Origin in handling all of its regional stakeholder relationships.

This is a 12 month contract role, working 5 hours per day, 5 days per week. (This is flexible to some extent.)

You will work in a matrix capacity reporting to both the Plant Manager as well as to Corporate Communications. 

The position is based at Uranquinty Power Station, Uranqunity, but with some periodic intrastate travel required.  Key challenges of this role will include:

•  liaising with a complex list of stakeholders who have diverse views on the benefits or otherwise of the Uranquinty project

•  keeping abreast of stakeholder issues and managing the flow of information to key internal stakeholders

•  dealing with different opinions and ideas

•  representing the views of local stakeholders back into Origin

Working with guidance from the Plant Manager and communications colleagues, you will be accountable for the management of stakeholder relations including:

  • implementation and management of stakeholder communications plans for Uranquinty
  • preparation and delivery of project information to local communities as the principal point of contact
  • listening and responding to local stakeholders
  • management of relations with neighbouring landholders
  • liaison with local government, media and community groups

•  managing the delivery of the Uranquinty Comminty Investment Plan

•  undertaking site tours for educational institutions

There are a wide range of backgrounds and experiences that you may bring to the position although ideally you will have worked in a community liaison capacity. Local, rural knowledge is essential as the position involves extensive consultation with regional communities. Knowledge of and previous involvement in the energy sector would be preferred.

The experience of working closely in local communities (and an appreciation of local concerns) would be of assistance. Good communication skills are required combined with an ability to listen and speak clearly in group and personal situations is needed.
